How long does it take to complete Sketchy Micro? ›

I preferred to watch a few per day over a period of a few weeks. I thought the videos were quick so it took me 3-4 days to complete it. Although if I had to redo it, I probably wouldn't have rushed it during the last sections (fungi and protozoa) since those are the harder ones for me to keep straight.

Sketchy is absolutely worth it. If you're a visual learner it's one of the best resources you can use. Waiting until systems is fine, but if you have some micro and pharm in the meantime it would certainly be helpful for those as well.

Does Sketchy offer the ability to share one account with multiple users? We do not allow multiple users to share one account. This goes against our Terms of Service. If your account is discovered to be sharing with multiple users, it will be flagged and you will be notified upon sign-in to your account.

Picmonic is more efficient for review before an exam or to create effective scaffolding for learning a topic the first time. With concise, hi-yield topic coverage, students save precious study time. “Picmonic has short and sweet videos and a daily quiz feature (with spaced repetition). Sketchy does not.”

Sketchy is probably enough to at least pass the exams.... Sketchy is great for everything. Everyone uses it for micro but is suggest using it for pharm and path as well.

Each video is ~ 2-3 minutes long (which is super-efficient). Sketchy video tends to run 30-40 min or more.

In summary, Pathoma is a great tool for augmenting your USMLE Step 1 studying, but cannot, and should not, be used in isolation. Consider taking notes from Pathoma directly into your First Aid textbook to consolidate your reference guide.

How Many Hours of Sketchy Pharm Are There? There are 27 hours of video in Sketchy Pharm. It's significantly longer than Sketchy Micro (another of my favorite resources).

Is Step 1 The hardest test? ›

At a cursory review, it is like any other standardized examination, but mention that to a medical student and they will shudder. Unofficially, people have claimed USMLE Step 1 is the most difficult and important of the 3-part USMLE series.

Students have been known to score 270+ on USMLE Step 1 just by using UWorld and First Aid. There are also students, however, who have gone through the question bank 3 or more times, and can't seem to get a passing score on the exam. This underscores the fact that UWorld is effective only if used properly.

Most authorities recommend 2-3 months of dedicated study time in order to prepare for USMLE Step 1. Dedicated study time should be treated like a full-time job that generally requires 6-8 hours per day, six days per week. However, the amount of time you spend studying each day depends on your own endurance.

I don't know if you all noticed, but you can no longer buy an individual subscription to one of sketchy's products anymore. In order to get access to pharm, micro, or path, you must buy a subscription to the sketchy ultimate lvl 1 package.

Knowing First Aid pharmacology is sufficient for getting the most questions correct. Of course, First Aid isn't the only source for USMLE pharmacology. (You can find the information presented in a more straightforward form in the Yousmle Pharmacology Deck).

NO, you will NOT have to repeat MBBS. Everything is possible but is difficult. Score of 270 is probably reached by less than 1% of the exam takers! Reaching above 250 or 260 is a reasonable plan!

226 – 233: The “Average” Cluster

The first, between 226 and 233, contains the mean program score for 8 out of 14 major programs. The overall USMLE Step 1 average score is 229, falls right in the center of this range.

The UWorld exams are harder because they have more detailed information. So make sure if you want to score well on the real thing, that you study hard and do great on these practice tests as well! You can also use other sources such as First Aid or Pathoma in order to help boost your knowledge base.

As the official MCAT prep of the AMSA, Kaplan recommends that you spend 300-350 hours studying so you can be above average. If you're planning on taking the MCAT in two months, you'll need to put aside a significant amount of study time each week for in order to be able to score competitively.

To be considered for acceptance at most medical schools, your MCAT score should be at least 510, and you should score no lower than 127 on each section.

And, if you're serious about getting into PA school, it might be necessary. Most PA schools have overall GPA and science GPA minimums of 3.0. Some are higher and some are lower, but the AVERAGE student accepted to these programs definitely has GPA scores over 3.0.

Most PA schools require a minimum GPA of 3.0, but to be truly competitive as a candidate your GPA should be above 3.5 for most top-ranked schools. Even schools with no minimum GPA listed or a GPA minimum below 3.0 will be looking for the best candidates in the application pool.

Of those that do, most use a 3.0 GPA as the cut-off, although some will have lower or higher PA school requirements. During the application process, schools will look at your GPA in four ways: Overall GPA. Science GPA.

Pharmacology is one of the more necessary subjects to find good flashcards for. So much of it is rote memorization! Using great premade Anki decks to help with that can save you a huge amount of time and effort.

Even though Step 1 will ask several memorization-based questions, I was surprised by the number of critical thinking questions there were. USMLE Step 1 is really a test designed to get you to start thinking like a doctor, and you cannot learn that passively by memorization alone.

Are Dr Najeeb Lectures Good for USMLE? Dr Najeeb Lectures claims its suitable for USMLE Step 1, COMLEX, NBDE, NCLEX and PANCE exams. I feel it's true that it has some use as the lectures do cover all pre-clinical subjects needed in preparation for USMLE Step 1.

Study 6-8 hours per day when you are 6-12 weeks out from the test. Not all of this study time should be spent on Pathoma, but some of it should.
